Grammar Study 03
みんあさんどうですか?
前のレッスンを復習しましょうか? In the previous lesson we studied about the demonstratives made with ko~, so~, a~, do~ preffixes. We studied the ~re and ~no suffixes which are used to make the word a demonstrative pronoun (as これ) or a demonstrative adjective (as この). Today we will take a quickier look at four other demonstrative words.
Always remember: こ is for things near the speaker, そ for things near the listener, あ for things far from both and ど to make questions (much the same as "which").
01)こう、そう、ああ、どう ー these are adverbs and mean "in this/that manner".
例えば:
こう
ブラジルは昔からこうなの。
ブラジルはむかしからこうなの。
Brazil has been like that since old times.
そう
私がここの生活に慣れるのに時間がかかりそうです。
わたしがここのせいかつになれるのにじかんがかかりそうです。
It seems (that-そう) it will take me a while to get used to daily life here. (This one was a little trick, but as you read some texts you will understand how そう is used).
ああ
彼はああやればよかったのに。
He should have done it that way.
どう - The simplest one in this batch *heheh*
具合はどうなんですか?
What about the health? (How is it?)
That will be it for today. These ones above are really important. I took these examples mainlly from tangorin.com so I highly encourage you to go there and look for some more interesting examples. Tangorin is a great website.
Remember, your feedback is important. We are approaching the 50 unique IPs per day, so let me know what do you think about the website.
また明日ね!
Gustavo.
